Visa Allocations for Contributory Parent, Parent, and Other Family Categories in 2022-23

The Australian government has released the Migration (Granting of Contributory Parent Visas, Parent Visas, and Other Family Visas in the Financial Year 2022/2023) Instrument - LIN 23/016 - F2023L00609, which outlines the allocation of visa places for various family categories. This instrument provides important information for individuals interested in migrating to Australia under the Contributory Parent, Parent, and Other Family visa subclasses. In this blog post, we will delve into the visa allocations for the 2022-23 financial year.

Contributory Parent Visas

For the 2022-2023 financial year, a maximum of 6,800 Contributory Parent visas may be granted, representing a significant increase from the previous year's allocation of 3,600 visas. This increase demonstrates the Australian government's commitment to family reunification and meeting the demand for parent migration.

Within the maximum quota of Contributory Parent visas, a subset of 112 visas is reserved for applicants for the Contributory Parent Visa Migrant, Class CA. These individuals must either hold or have previously held SC 405 Investor Retirement or SC 410 Retirement visas. They are required to satisfy either the primary criteria in Schedule 2, Clause 143.214 or the secondary criteria in Schedule 2, Clause 143.313.

Parent Visas

In the 2022-2023 financial year, a maximum of 1,700 Parent visas may be granted, a substantial increase from the previous year's allocation of 900 visas. The increase in the quota for Parent visas reflects the Australian government's recognition of the importance of family migration and the desire to facilitate reunification.

Within the maximum allocation for Parent visas, a total of 13 visas are reserved for applicants for the Parent (Migrant) (Class AX) visa. These individuals must hold or have previously held C 405 Investor Retirement or SC 410 Retirement visas. They are required to meet either the primary criteria set out in Schedule 2, Clause 143.214, or the secondary criteria set out in Schedule 2, Clause 143.313.

Other Family Visas

The allocation for Other Family visas remains unchanged from the previous year, with a maximum of 500 visas available for the 2022-2023 financial year. These visas are designed for individuals who have eligible family members in Australia and wish to join them on a permanent basis.
